5 Drinking Games Every Fresher Should Know

Just in case you need another reason to drink, these drinking games will be a great chance to get to know your fellow housemates. We all know that to bond with someone in your drunken state is to bond with someone on a spiritual level so grab your drinking buddies and try your hand at a few of these games.

1. Attached at the Hip

So I first discovered this game on BuzzFeed and have since played it multiple times! You write various body parts on slips of paper (fingers, bums, hips, elbows) and put them in a pile. You then split into pairs and pick a body part at random. From then, you are ‘attached’ to your buddy by that body part; every time someone separates, they have to take a shot. It’s harder than it sounds!

2.Bananagrams

This game wasn’t originally designed for the drunken however I feel that the new party edition fits the bill perfectly! Bananagrams is a game about creating anagrams. It’s a race against the clock to see who can use all their tiles first. However the new Party Bananagrams comes with new tiles, some requiring you to hop on one leg whilst you play, others asking you to dress up and one even allows you to destroy a player of your choices words. You can even mix it up by making the loser drink for every tile they have left at the end or take a shot everytime you pick up a certain letter. This game is great fun when you’re sober but even more fun when you’re drunk.

3. Sip Sip Shot

Another than I found on BuzzFeed, and a firm favourite of mine as it reminds me of the child’s game Duck Duck Goose, is Sip Sip Shot. Everyone playing will sit in a circle and one player goes around tapping people on the head, saying “sip.” Each bopped person must then take a sip of their drink. The tapper will then shout ‘shot’ at someone and they will have to get up and chase them around the circle. If they catch up, they take over but if they loose then they have to sit back down and take a shot. A blast from the past but with an alcoholic twist.

4. Drunken Artists

There are many different names for this but essentially, it’s Pictionary. Players will split into two teams, taking turns at being the artist whilst being timed by the other team. As the artist draws, the rest of the players shout out to guess what they think the picture is. The artist has to take a sip for every 20 seconds that went by before someone figured out what they were drawing. If the artwork is so terrible that the group gives up, the artist has to take a shot.

5.Ring Of Fire

The first ever drinking game I was ever taught how to play. You place a jug in the middle of a table and then scatter several packs of cards around the jug face down. The players then sit in a circle around the table and take it in turns to pick up a card. Each card means something different. You keep playing until the last king is pick up and the unlucky player has to down the jug.

A- Waterfall – Everyone must keep drinking until the person who picked the card stops. So who knows how long you will be going for!
2- is Choose – You can choose someone to drink
3- is Me – You must drink
4- is Whore – All girls drink
5- Thumb Master- When you put your thumb on the table everyone must follow and whomever is last must drink. you are the thumb master till someone else picks a five.
6- is Dicks – All guys drink
7- is Heaven – Point your finger in the sky, whoever is last must drink
8- is Mate – Choose someone to drink with you
9- Rhyme – Pick a word such a dog and the person next to you must rhyme with dog, like log, and it goes to the next person and the next, in a circle, until someone messes up and he or she will have to drink
10- Categories- Pick a category such a football and you go in a circle and everyone has to say a word that fits with football such as: touchdown, field goal, USC. Whoever messes up, drinks.
Jack- Make a Rule – You can make up any rule that everyone has to follow, such as you can only drink with your right hand. Everyone (including you) must follow this rule for the whole entire game and if you disobey you must drink.
Queen- Questions – Go around in a circle and you have to keep asking questions to each other. Doesn’t matter what the question is, as long as its a question. Whoever messes up and does not say a question, drinks.
King- Pour!- You must pour a little of your drink into the jug that is in the middle of the table. Whomever picks up the LAST king must drink the whole jug, which could be filled with different drinks, so who knows how bad it could taste!
