‘Raw Halo’ Vegan Chocolate for Christmas

In time for Christmas, I was sent some ‘Raw Halo’ Vegan Chocolate to review thanks to Alex and Student Wire. I’m not a vegan myself, but with close friends who are, I’ve been around vegans and have always had an interest in their food. As a chocolate lover however, I couldn’t say no to an opportunity to try this gorgeous brand, and by comparing it to brands own dark chocolate – I can imagine that being vegan has never been so yummy with chocolate like this.

Raw Halo is a start-up brand with big ambitions, to become the world’s best-loved luxury raw chocolate brand, and they’re well on their way, with 12 divine varieties of raw, organic, refined sugar free chocolate to their name and an ever-evolving range soon to be released.

Founded in 2015, Raw Halo’s inspiration came from the search for a good quality raw chocolate product that wasn’t loaded with additives or nasty sugar alternatives. Instead, Raw Halo combines superfoods with rich Peruvian cacao to create six ‘Mylk’ and six Dark healthy twists on your favourite chocolate combinations.

With such a diverse range, there’s quite literally something for everyone for any occasion!

Unlike conventional chocolate, the cacao beans aren’t roasted; instead, through careful temperature control and minimal processing, the raw chocolate is minimally processed to retain the nutrients of the original cacao beans. Keeping the chocolate raw ensures the cacao retains its high levels of antioxidants, magnesium and iron, maximising its nutritional benefits.

Raw Halo researched various natural alternative sweeteners to ensure their chocolate had the same indulgent sweetness of traditional chocolate but without the same health concerns. Raw Halo like to keep their chocolate pure, as nature intended. That’s why all of their bars are free from gluten, wheat, and lactose. 11 of the 12 bars are dairy-free and approved by the Vegan Society too.

The twelve 35g bars are a treat for all the senses, wrapped in bespoke rose gold foil, they are attractively bound in an inviting rainbow of colours – the dinky size makes them ideal for a handbag staple – perfect as an on-the-go pick-me-up, al desko treat or quick boost after the gym.

Speaking of gifts, September 2017 will also see Raw Halo launch nine (yes, nine!) new celebration boxes. Designed with illustrator Maeve Brooks (Too Wordy) Raw Halo’s colourful creations will be bound in clean white boxes adorned with elegant gold calligraphy, wishing the recipient the happiest of birthdays, merriest of Christmas’ or just a simple note of thanks.

And so begins Raw Halo’s mission: to make healthy products, with the finest ingredients, available to a wide audience. Stockists include the Raw Halo website, Whole Foods, Planet Organic, Harrods, Not on the High Street and As Nature Intended, as well as delis, health food stores and cafés nationwide.
