Ray-Ban / Shade Station Review

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’ve always found frames that I like for under £20 and so the thought of spending £100+ on a pair of sunglasses made me feel uneasy. I never really understood why people did it. I always presumed it was merely a fashion statement.

Ray-Ban are a prime example of why spending a little extra can make all the difference to the quality of the lenses and therefore the safety of your eyesight in the sun. I now see sunglasses as more of an investment piece; essential for safely enjoying the sunlight, protecting your eyes (both short-term and long-term) and even potentially saving your life (I’m thinking specifically cancer). And you also look reeaaaalllly good!

I was allowed to pick out my own frames from Shade Station and spent ages scrolling through my options. I successfully visualised myself wearing all of them as they’re all so beautiful. There are so many designs to choose from. Each style is unique so, from aviator to cat-eye, you will be able to find something to suit your tastes. You can even customise your glasses to some degree. Once you’ve chosen the shape you like, for some brands you can choose your combination of frames and lenses so you can really adapt the glasses to match your style.

I finally settled for the Ray-Ban ClubMasters with the tortoise Shell frames and the green lens. Vintage and classic. I thought Ray Ban would be safe bet. I’ve seen so many other students walk around rocking the classic Ray-Ban frames and always admired them (I mean the glasses though I’m sure the people wearing them were great too!)

The glasses are lightweight and fit comfortably around your ears. On several occasions I’ve worn them all day and forgotten that I’m even wearing them. They’re also perfect for every occasion; I’ve worn them poolside, wandering round town, even to and from work when I’ve seen the sun trying to peek behind the clouds! No doubt I’ll be wearing them to the beach in August if the sun manages to stay out long enough.

If you’re looking to invest in a decent pair of sunglasses this spring/summer then I can highly recommend Shade Station. The variety of glasses they have on the site is unbelievable and the speed at which the glasses are shipped to you is amazing. The glasses also come with a matching case (no cheap clear plastic case that you used to get when you were a kid!) and a cleaning cloth so you’re glasses should last a lifetime if cared for properly!
