Halloween themed cocktails

Okay, so we know it’s still two weeks until Halloween… But you can never be too prepared for a festivity that’s a nationwide student favourite. Halloween is a great excuse to socialise on a budget at uni. Unlike birthdays or Christmas, you don’t have to splash out on presents for anyone, or worry about sending a greetings card in time. Halloween is simply a time to get into the spooky spirit and enjoy autumn. So whether you’re attending a creepy club event, hosting a house party, or enjoying a ghoulishly good horror film marathon with mates, these cocktail recipes can…

Food review: Turtle Bay

You may have spotted the UK’s latest high street restaurant that seems to be popping up in every city – Turtle Bay. After a recent visit, Student Wire can vouch that Turtle Bay is probably unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before. Even the decor of the Leeds branch is enough to draw you in. Review: An evening at Las Iguanas

Last Thursday, three lucky members of the Student Wire team including myself, had the pleasure of being invited to Las Iguanas, Leeds for a special evening of cocktails, student blogger company and incredible food. The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from the general manager Maddalena Connor. With Richard’s instruction we…

Food review: Fu Manchu

Last week Student Wire hit London Town and just so happened to be invited down to Fu Manchu, a restaurant based right next to Clapham North tube station in South West London, to see for ourselves all that it had to offer. Based under the arches of a bridge, upon arriving at the venue it was clear that it was a pretty cool place. On entering we were greeted by friendly staff, dim lighting and laid back music; all in all making for the perfect ambience. The restaurant itself is pretty large and we were told that on a Friday…

Halloween round-up

Halloween is here! It’s time to get the costumes ready and the house prepped for a party. Some of you eager beans will be more excited than Christmas morning, ready to don the homemade costume that you have been stressing over all week and collect the last few bottles of spray paint and body paint from town. I wonder what will be the popular costume choices for this year. Last year we saw a string of Walter Whites and Miley Cyrus’ (I think you know which outfit I mean). Whilst the somewhat timeless sexy cat always made an appearance. Straying…
