Top 5 Make-Up trends for Summer 2013

Makeup - Africa StudioAlthough the weather hasn’t been the best indication, summer is fast approaching which means festival season is on its way, and for those of us who are lucky enough, maybe even a quick summer getaway to the beach is coming up. If you are a beauty fanatic like me and like to stay on trend with the latest beauty buys, here is your guide to this season’s top 5 make-up trends for under £10.

  • Shades of brown and bronze

Although spring and summer trends are usually filled with lots of pretty pastels, this summer it’s all about the bronzed skin and sultry smokey eyes with shades of coffee, gold and neutrals.

This Sleek i Divine palette in Storm is the perfect combination of brown and bronze colours with a few light highlighting shades and deep colours for the perfect smokey eye. £7.99 for 10 beautiful shades.

Bright and Bold lips

Bright lips are always a must for the spring and summer season, it is one of the best ways to brighten up your look for those summer days. Keeping the rest of your face clean and simple and making your lips the focal point is the way to go. Bright and bold shades of pink and orange are always seen on the runways and some of my favourite celebs. Barry M lipsticks in 52 and 62 are some of my favourite shades of pink, however if orange works better for you shade 54 is fab!

You can see all of the gorgeous Barry M shades at your local Superdrug or on the link below.

Colour Eye liner

Coloured eye liner was seen all over the catwalk with Donna Karan and Christopher Kane taking the lead. It’s a fun way to make your eye colour pop by either smudging the liner on your bottom and top eyelids for a grunge festival look or, drawing a sleek line for that sought after cat eye look that never goes out of style. Whichever works for you these Bourjois Contour Clubbing eye pencils are perfect for your summer look for just £4.99

Long Lashes

If you’re anything like me, a make-up obsessed girly girl, then you agree with my view on lashes; bigger the better. Well that is exactly what we saw this season at all of the best catwalk shows and in all of the latest magazines. My personal favourite way to achieve the look is with fake lashes as the possibilities are endless, you can get so many different lengths and varieties whether it be strips or individual lashes and it gives you the option to be as daring as you want. Eylure lashes in 101, 107 and 125 are my all time favourites for that fluttery glamorous look often seen on the Kardashians, make sure to drop into your local Superdrug and choose a pair that works for you.

Alternatively if lashes aren’t for you, you can stick with good old mascara to recreate a similar effect, Maybelline is my favourite affordable brand for mascaras and the ‘Volum Express Colossal Smoky Eyes’ and ‘Volum’ Express one-by-one’ mascaras are great for thickness and length.

Bronzed Skin

Last but not least I’m going back to my first point about browns and bronzes. Along with your neutral smoky eye you will want to show off your bronzed summer glow for that beach babe look and this Bourjois Bronzing Powder is my all-time favourite as it adds the perfect bronze gold to your cheekbones without making you look oompa loompa orange.
